I listened to the whole thing and a number of things struck me: Boy, has Carl Fillichio changed his tune since his April 16th conference call with reporters, when he stonewalled and refused to answer reasonable questions. (The transcript to that call is here, but to fully appreciate the extent of his obnoxiousness, listen to the audio.) [...]
These are the ones that I know about, but there are more: JED Capital of Chicago used to be tied to Need to Know News (NTKN) Vigilant Global (formerly Vigilant Futures) of Montreal started the fake news agency CEP News to gain access to lock-ups. CEP News was subsequently folded, but its marketing director, Paula [...]
Here are the news organizations that have been officially credentialed for Department of Labor lock-ups, effective July 6, 2012: Agence France-Presse Associated Press Bloomberg News Bloomberg Television CNBC CNN Dow Jones Newswires Fox Business Network Jiji Press Kyodo News Market News International MarketWatch The Nikkei Thomson Reuters Tribune Company This is the old Department of [...]
This post is delayed. Please check back later. Update 10:30 April 17: The promised audio of Monday’s call, which was supposed to be posted to the DOL website yesterday, is still not available. The DOL linked it earlier, but the recording turned out to be muzak and now it’s disappeared. Honestly, if they can’t upload [...]
Hmm, this sounds like the end of an era: The U.S. Department of Labor announced on Wednesday it plans to tighten its rules for the media to prevent leaks of the monthly jobs numbers. The department will supply standard equipment to journalists in press “lock-ups” and will not allow company-owned computers or phones to be [...]
The U.S. Department of Labor confirmed this morning that Potomac Radio News no longer participates in lock-ups, but officials were not able to give the exact date it left. Its spot was given to RTTNews, a curious news agency with many things in common with the now defunct CEP News.
Is Potomac Radio News how RTTNews gets information out of lock-ups? And is Susquehanna Investment Group involved or just curious?
Since I first posted about RTTNews, my site has risen very high in the Google rankings for the curious Buffalo-based news agency. I am now on the first page of results for RTTNews. As well, none of my emails to RTTNews, requesting infromation, have been returned. This week I plan to follow up and make [...]
I’m still looking for more information about RTTNews. Last week, I sent a message to DPA-AFX and Ravi Mariathasan at RTTNews asking for more information about this article, which quotes Martin Kalverkamp of DPA-AFX saying that RTT provides a “real-time US macroeconomic news feed, sourced from the ‘lockup’ newsrooms of government departments.” Since I couldn’t [...]
RTTNews has come up in conversation here before, but I noticed yesterday that Paula Midena, formerly of CEP News (Canadian Economic Press), is now working for this curious Buffalo-based news agency. Paula, you may or may not recall, was the marketing director who either didn’t know or wouldn’t say that Vigilant Futures was the backer [...]
